About Me

I’m Martin, an English tutor since 2008 specialising in academic literacy and practical communication for early teens through adults. I use differentiated learning to tailor each lesson to individual needs, helping students develop the English skills they need for academic success and confident real-world communication.

Here, you will experience a different teaching style from typical schools, where time for critical and creative thinking is limited; my Problem-Based English Learning approach integrates lots of speaking practice with discussion, research, and writing in a holistic learning experience.

English Oracy

English oracy is the ability to use spoken language effectively, articulating ideas, listening actively, and engaging others with appropriate tone, register, and structure.

Learners speak with purpose: they discuss cases, question evidence, negotiate solutions, and present findings.

English Literacy

English literacy is the ability to read and write effectively in English, understanding and evaluating texts, and producing clear, well-structured writing with appropriate vocabulary, grammar and register.

Reading and writing serve real tasks. Students research from credible sources, synthesise ideas, and produce well-structured texts.

Differentiated Learning

Through differentiated learning, open-ended problems and varied pathways ensure each learner progresses at a suitable level and pace, with materials and support adapted to individual strengths, challenges, and goals.

Critical and Creative Thinking

Learners develop critical and creative thinking as they interrogate data, compare perspectives, generate options, and justify recommendations—practising the analytical and innovative thinking essential for problem-solving in any field.

Learner Autonomy

Learner autonomy develops as students plan their inquiry, monitor progress, reflect on outcomes, and take ownership of their learning journey—building the independence and self-regulation vital for lifelong success.

Preparation in reading, writing and critical thinking.

This course prepares learners for the demands of academic study and research. We build fast and purposeful reading, clear and concise writing, and confident speaking in class.

Students learn how to plan, cite and edit effectively so their essays, reports and presentations meet university standards.

English Skills Courses

Vocabulary & Reading

Build strong vocabulary and confident reading.

This course develops word knowledge, reading fluency and comprehension through engaging texts and purposeful practice.

Lessons include short projects, graded readers and age-appropriate topics.

Listening & Speaking

Achieve clear, confident communication in English.

Learners train to follow authentic speech, then respond with clear pronunciation, useful phrases and well structured ideas.

Each lesson offers targeted feedback so students improve accuracy, fluency and confidence in everyday situations.

Grammar Mastery

It is an inquiry based English course for children aged 8 to 12.
